Government to support aircraft industry, upgrade airlines’ fleet

MOSCOW, Jan 21 (PRIME) – Aircraft building is a priority industry for the Russian government that will help airlines upgrade their fleets, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a government meeting on Friday.

“This is priority work for the government. … The government will continue to provide the industry with all necessary assistance. First of all, to upgrade the fleet of Russian airlines more actively,” Mishustin said.

President Vladimir Putin has tasked the government with expanding the mechanisms of state support for the aircraft industry, provide funding and develop reliable and competitive next-generation Russian aircraft, as well as complete import substitution to secure full technological self-reliance, Mishustin said.
